About The Artist

Born in 1951 and raised in Southern California, Kathleen attended Cal State Long Beach, University of Chicago, and Harvard Medical School. She and her husband David earned their medical degrees in 1978. They spent twenty-five years in New York where they raised two sons and where Kathleen practiced ophthalmology. She retired from medicine in 2008 and was able to pursue a life-long dream: learning to paint.

In Memphis, TN, she was fortunate to find inspiring teachers and wonderful art colleagues. She and David returned to medical practice in Memphis during the pandemic, founding a clinic to treat drug addiction.

Kathleen has exhibited at the Kroc Center, the Memphis Botanic Garden, the Germantown Performing Arts Center, and the Jewish Community Center in Memphis. She works primarily in oils, with occasional forays into alcohol ink and into collage work. She currently lives in Asheville, NC.
